The Adolf Hoops Society Officially Recognized as a Non-Profit Organisation − May 2024

We are pleased to share a significant milestone with you. In May 2024, we received the final confirmation from the Berlin Tax Office, marking the official recognition of the Adolf Hoops Society (Adolf-Hoops-Gesellschaft gGmbH) as a non-profit organisation.

The Adolf Hoops Society, named after the pioneer of organic farming Adolf Hoops, who laid the foundation for biocyclic vegan agriculture, is based in Berlin, Germany. It is the editor of the Biocyclic Vegan Standard and the Biocyclic Vegan Quality Seal. It also coordinates biocyclic vegan activities worldwide, serving as the central hub of the global network “Biocyclic Vegan International”.

According to its statutes, the purpose of the Adolf Hoops Society is to raise awareness of the importance of an increasingly plant-based food system and the role of biocyclic vegan agriculture in it, offering multiple global benefits, e. g. for the mitigation of climate change, the preservation and enhancement of biodiversity, reduction of land use, animal protection, and food security. This mission is carried out in Europe and worldwide through publications, lectures, advisory services as well as educational and training events.

While significant progress has been made in individual countries through independent national organisations (e.g., the non-profit Förderkreis Biozyklisch-Veganer Anbau e. V. in Germany), global efforts have so far been limited to volunteer work on a small scale. Now, with our new non-profit status, we can apply for financial support from international donors and philanthropic organisations to promote the development of biocyclic vegan agriculture worldwide. This support is crucial as global interest grows, making it increasingly challenging to respond adequately to the many requests we receive.
