EAPF Call to Action: Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture − Co-Signed by Biocyclic Vegan International − November 2024

EAPF Urges EU to Embrace a Plant-Based Food System

Brussels, November 2024

The European Alliance for Plant-Based Foods (EAPF) has launched a pivotal call to action, urging the European Commission to implement the recommendations from the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture. This initiative aims to drive a transformative transition towards more resilient, sustainable, and equitable food systems in the EU, with plant-based foods at the core of this transformation.

The call emphasizes three main priorities:

1. Empowering Consumers: Supporting policies that promote healthier, sustainable choices by improving affordability and accessibility of plant-based foods, alongside education, labeling, and marketing initiatives.

2. Establishing a Comprehensive Plant-Based Action Plan: Advocating for a detailed roadmap by 2026 to boost the production and consumption of plant-based foods, drawing inspiration from successful national strategies like Denmark’s Plant-Based Action Plan.

3. Creating the European Board for Agri-Food: Proposing a consultative body to ensure balanced representation, including innovation-driven plant-based food sectors.

This call to action is supported by a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including **Biocyclic Vegan International** and the German **Förderkreis Biocyclic-Veganer Anbau**. These organizations play a crucial role in promoting sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices, underlining the growing recognition of biocyclic-vegan principles as vital for achieving the EU’s climate, biodiversity, and health goals.

The EAPF encourages all stakeholders to share this message widely as the EU embarks on its new legislative mandate, calling for collaboration across all sectors to secure a sustainable future for agriculture.
