Biocyclic Vegan International Co-Signs Position Paper on Sustainable Protein Diversification, February 2025

Biocyclic Vegan International has joined over 80 organizations from across the food system in co-signing the Position Paper on Sustainable Protein Diversification. While the document includes examples from animal agriculture and the meat industry, we have chosen to support this initiative because it unites a broad coalition to advocate for a more resilient, sustainable, and fair food system.

As highlighted in the paper:

“Something remarkable is happening: For the first time, meat processors, vegan organisations, regenerative farmers, food innovators, and many more are backing the same solution: sustainable protein diversification to rise above polarisation. Why? Because sustainable protein diversification is an opportunity that benefits everyone.”

With the European Commission shaping the roadmap for food and agriculture for the next five years, this is a crucial moment to push for policies that:
> Support farmers with better incomes and resilient businesses
> Drive food innovation—from regenerative agriculture to precision fermentation
> Strengthen food security by reducing reliance on imported protein
> Create a healthier food environment that offers consumers more choices

This initiative is not about division but about unlocking solutions that work for all. Biocyclic Vegan International stands by this vision and will continue advocating for plant-based, stock-free agriculture as part of a sustainable future.

This initiative aligns closely with the recently awarded ProRegio project of the German Förderkreis Biozyklisch-Veganer Anbau e.V., which is part of the Chancenprogramm Höfe. The program supports farms transitioning to the production of alternative proteins for human consumption, reinforcing the shared goal of a more sustainable and resilient food system that prioritises plant-based agriculture.
